Usamos os SUPERLATIVE quando queremos comparar UM elemento entre vários.

EX: Vatican City is the smallest country in the world.

(O Vaticano é o menor país do mundo.)

Há duas formas de fazer SUPERLATIVE SENTENCES.

1. SHORT ADJECTIVES: Adjetivos de apenas uma sílaba.

Usamos THE e o adjetivo acrescentando EST.

THE + ADJECTIVE + EST

Adjective - RICH (rico, rica)

She is the richest girl in the classroom.

(Ela é a garota mais rica da classe.)

* CVC: Quando a palavra termina em consonant, vowel, consonant, dobramos a última consoante antes de adicionar EST.

Adjective - BIG

Russia is the biggest country in the world.

(A Rússia é o maior país do mundo.)

*Y: Quando a palavra termina em Y, devemos excluir o Y e adicionar IEST.

Adjective - HAPPY

He is the happiest man in the world.

(Ele é o homem mais feliz do mundo)

2. LONG ADJECTIVES: Adjetivos de duas ou mais sílabas.

Usamos THE MOST e o adjetivo

Adjective - BEAUTIFUL

In my opinion, Rio de Janeiro is the most beautiful city in Brazil.

(Na minha opinião, Rio de Janeiro é a cidade mais bonita no Brasil.)

GOOD - THE BEST

Mariah Carey is the best singer in the world.

(Mariah Carey é a melhor cantora do mundo.)

BAD - THE WORST

In my opinion, beet is the worst vegetable.

(Na minha opinião, beterraba é o pior vegetal.)
